Frequently Asked Questions

When is it?

The Australian Jamboree Gang Show show will be performed on the evening of Saturday 9th January 2016. This is the same date as Super Saturday (Market Day & Future Scout Day) will be held at the Jamboree.

Where is it?

The Australian Jamboree Gang Show will be performed in the main arena during the 24th Australian Jamboree to be held at Cataract Scout Park, NSW Australia.

I want to be in the cast, what do I have to do?

Being in the Austraian Gang Show cast is an awesome experience, one which you will remember for the rest of your life.

You will be required to attend one full day rehearsal on Saturday 9th January with the performance being held that very same evening! By attending the rehearsal and performance you will not be missing out on any of the normal Jamboree activities - only Super Saturday (Market Day). Participating in the Australian Jamboree Gang Show will also count towards your Jamboree Award!

For local shows (Cumberland, Hornsby, Kirrawee, Korimul, Central Coast), several rehearsals will be held in October/November/December 2015. The dates for these rehearsals will be available soon.

For interstate and overseas shows, cast members will receive rehearsal materials in October 2015 (scripts, rehearsal CD etc) that will help you practice before you get to the Jamboree. All the routines and stage positions you will learn on the day, so don't worry.

Can anyone be in the cast of the Jamboree Gang Show?

The Australian Jamboree Gang Show is a very intensive day and we require that all our cast members MUST have previously been a cast member of a Gang Show or Showtime in Australia or New Zealand prior to the performance on 9th January 2016.

What about sets, lighting, video and audio?

We welcome people to assist in stage crew, sets, construction, lighting and audio. Contact us for more information.

You may need to bring some simple items of clothing along with you. We will let you know over the next few months.

Is the Gang Show a part of the Jamboree Award?

YES! We are very pleased that participants in the Gang Show will receive recognition of their involvement as part of their Jamboree Award.

What other activities will I miss out if I want to be part of the Gang?

NONE. Other than Market Day activities within troops, Scouts will not miss out on any on-site or off-site activities on this day. Cubs and Cub leaders need to consider this, as there are activities taking place during the day that they will miss out on by being a part of the Gang Show.

If I said yes to helping out with the Opening/Closing Ceremony, does that mean I am in it?

No. We were asked by the Opening and Closing Ceremony organisers to gather a list of interested people who may be called upon to help out with these ceremonies. This may just mean you will be a part of a choir that leads the National Anthem. Further information will be provided by the Opening/Closing ceremony organisers closer to the date.

Can Guides be a part of AJGS?

Of course! Guides and any Scouts not attending the Jamboree can certainly be a part of the Jamboree Gang Show.

I am not attending the Jamboree but I will travel to Cataract to be a part of it. Can I stay onsite overnight?

No. Increased security measures at this Jamboree means that at the conclusion of the Gang Show you must leave the site. We will try to assist interstate participants and those travelling distances to be a part of the Jamboree Gang Show with organising accommodation off-site, where possible.

I am not attending the Jamboree but I want to come for the day to work backstage or as part of the Technical teams. Is this possible?

At the moment we have a technical team including lighting who are part of the Entertainment Team in the main arena for the whole Jamboree. This team will be working on every night's entertainment for the entirety of the Jamboree, including Gang Show. As such, we would not be needing helpers specifically for any department, for example Lighting, for Gang Show.
